June 8, 2021 was Owen and Ellie’s last day of school! I got a picture of Owen and his 4th grade teacher, Ms. Vallejos, standing several feet apart. Owen’s friend Jake actually came by on this last day – Owen was SO excited to see him – and they played foursquare for a while. Jake was one of two kids who did not come back in person in Owen’s class (Jake’s Mom is undergoing cancer treatments, so the risk was just too great). I got a picture of Owen playing foursquare with Jake, and a picture of his entire 4th grade class sitting on the track, all masked. I’m glad Owen got to go back to school for these last six weeks. Otherwise he would never have met his teacher or his classmates from 4th grade in person. It was harrowing, as none of these kids could be vaccinated yet, but it was a good thing.
