Boston: Arrival Day
On July 24, we left for Boston! This was our first plane trip since the pandemic started. We were nervous, but felt good about going to Boston, which has a very good track record for Covid.
The flight was direct and uneventful. We got to Boston in the mid-afternoon, and caught a bus to downtown, then walked to the apartment we’d rented. It was right downtown, just one block from Boston Common! Our unit was a couple floors up.
Once we were settled in, we took a walk, both to get situated and to find some dinner. We found a Middle Eastern restaurant on the other side of our block, facing Boston Common, and got some delicious take-away containers, which we ate in the Common itself. Then we strolled through the Common, and through the Beacon Hill neighborhood, as an after-dinner walk.
Then we strolled back through the Common and home to get some sleep.
I got two new suitcases the day before we left
It was last minute, but we'd broken a wheel on one in Italy
So we replaced our two slightly-larger suitcases with two smaller ones
I was just glad to find some Samsonite carry ons in stock
Because the aisles were super picked over!
The new suitcase (right) is slightly smaller than the older one
We pulled the van into the side yard and taped plastic over the broken window. Classy.
Quick last dinner of scramble, green salad, cucumbers, leftover corn chowder
Last snuggle with the kitties
I left everything out for Manya: instructions, egg cartons for chicken eggs
The next morning, we got to SFO at 5 a.m.
Putting masks on! We double masked and kept them on all day
On the move. Feels strange and new after two years
New baggage security
Round counter with multple spots for different parties to unload
New waterbottle filling stations!
Boston flight, with mask note
Waiting. Double masks, Lela's folding a napkin
Arrived in Boston!
We emerge at about 4 p.m.

Here's our unit! Lots of character
Once we've settled in we get dinner and eat in the Common
It's a beautiful day. Lots of people out enjoying it on the grass
And cooling off too
