About fifteen acres of the south-facing slope of Brown Mountain in Tucson Mountain Park was heavily infested in 2005 with dense patches of buffelgrass. With the dedication of hundreds of weedwacker volunteers and many hours of digging, bagging and rocking, this desert is now clear of buffelgrass and is in maintenance-mode with reclearing needed perhaps every two years.
