Removing buffelgrass and fountain grass by digging it out along roadsides and on steep slopes has proved to be a successful method of clearing the desert and adjacent areas of invasive grasses. Weedwackers, neighborhood groups, students of all ages and Boy Scouts have been involved with protecting many areas around Tucson.
